These days it is constantly in the high 80s and 90s in the Carolinas yet the folks at USRN are already dreaming of ice. That's right, ice hockey. Today the National Hockey League released it's 2019-2020 schedule which is good news for all hockey fans, but that's just the start of the good news. Last season, USRN broadcasted many Stanley Cup Playoff games and most of them surrounded the Cinderella story that was the Carolina Hurricanes who provided a lot of drama for fans everywhere. After much success and positive feedback, USRN has made the decision that they will be bulking up their hockey coverage for next season and of course, you guessed it, the Hurricanes will be right in the center of it all. You might have heard on an occasion or two the USRN crew of Matthew Owens & Seth Eaves go by the name of the "Carolina Connection" with the two hailing from North and South Carolina. It is that Carolina Connection that has been the voice of many events on USRN, spanning from NASCAR to the NFL, College Basketball, the World Cup and the Women's College World Series to just name a few. Now the two Carolina boys will be embarking on a new adventure this fall as they will be at the forefront of USRN's coverage of the Carolina Hurricanes and the NHL. Starting on the night of Thursday, October 3rd, USRN will begin their coverage of Carolina Hurricanes hockey as the Eastern Conference runners up will open up their campaign against the Montreal Canadiens from PNC Arena in Raleigh. It begins a season where the network will be on the call for select Hurricane games throughout the year. Each broadcast will begin with a thirty minute pre-game show hosted by Gaffney, South Carolina's Seth Eaves and then followed by the game where play-by-play will come from Walnut Cove, North Carolina's Matthew Owens. Eaves' extensive coverage on USRN includes hosting and play-by-play duties in many sports that range across multiple sports. Like Eaves, Owens' USRN assignments have included multiple sports including calling the Carolina Hurricanes' run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season.
USRN will announce their full Hurricanes schedule at a later date to go along with the games that have already been confirmed which includes:
